Avoiding Fines - Tech Areas, RESPECT & Lines

Last season Cheshire Girls Football League are introduced a new arrangement for coaches, substitutes and spectators. RESPECT barriers for all matches (including mini-soccer) and technical areas must be used.

Up to 2 adults (Manager and Coach) and the substitutes are then allowed within the technical area.

A pitch map showing the suggested locations for these barriers and technical areas can be found here:

For 9-a-side games before the start of each match both teams erect their own RESPECT barrier. The barriers should run the length of the pitch and supporters from both teams should stand behind these barriers.

At the end of the both teams collect their own barriers

Parents should be briefed that they are expected to behave in a manor appropriate for a children's football match and comply with the parents code of conduct issued by the FA, League and your club.

The FA's code of conduct for Parents/Spectators can be found here:

Clubs should remind parents that they should not shout out instructions to the players, that they should support and encourage players from both teams AND THE REFEREE.

Teams should consider appointing a parent representative who can help ensure touchline behaviour remains in line with the parents code of conduct.

The FA have a guide for parents and carers here:

On the touchline each team will mark out a technical area close to the half way line with a minimum of 8 cones, the technical area should be about 3 meters wide and set back from the touchline about 1 meter or as the space allows.

Up to 2 adults (Manager and Coach) and the substitutes are then allowed within the technical area.

In line with the IFAB laws of the game only one person can issue tactical instructions to the team from the technical area at any one time. Coaches should not generally leave the technical area unless asked to do so by the referee or another "common sense" reason requires you to do so.

We suggest that Coaches/Managers bring a pop-up chair with them into the technical area and sit down during the match.

Adults who are running the touchline with the flag must NOT coach their respective teams.
