Park U18s - Match Report

2 In 2 For Park

(Gary Meacock 08/04/2018)

2    Frodsham JFC Park U18s
1    Barnton Wanderers U18s

(Match Date: Sunday 8th April 2018)
Frodsham claimed back to back wins after seeing of a very good Barnton team.

With only 1 sub and no recognised keeper – the call went out for volunteers which Thomas and Dan accepted. The omens were good however as the last time we were without our first team keep we won the game 2-1 – would history repeat itself.

Both teams started well but no clear cut chances in the first 20 minutes.

It was Frodsham who broke the deadlock with a rocket from Loc – the ball was loose inside the box and Loc didn’t break stride to lash the ball home from 12 yards.
Our stand in keeper had a one notable save to make but other than that our defence was very well organised with the returning Joe coming back from injury.

Second half started even better for Frodsham with a speculative shot from Nat went through the keepers legs.
With the very recent history of the Man U game, the next goal was going to be key. Frodsham had a couple of clear cut chances to put the game out of reach but their keeper was up to the task.

Barnton started to pile on the pressure with 20 minutes to go but a fantastic performance for Stand in keeper number 2
Dan who palmed the ball away, tipped a ball over the crossbar and saved well with his legs kept the ball out.

With 4 minutes to go Barnton pulled one back. What was thought to be a nervous 4 minutes ended up being 11, fourth official some how found 7 minutes of added time.

A nervous end to the game but Frodsham kept their cool and focus to see out the game.

Man of the match went to Dan for some truly stunning saves.
The whole team worked extremely hard today, also special mention to Loc who really provided great vocal support to keep the team focused on the task in hand and also for a stunning strike.
